Services

All of our services are confidential and free: Advice, Support and Networking.

Information and support for children and families is provided both by the Drop In Centre staff and staff from SNIP (Special Needs Information Point) at the Centre.

Our Drop In Centre staff provide a listening ear and information on many different conditions and often give further medical information to both parents and children. They have close relationships with the Specialist nurses and are able to enhance the information which may have been given at the time of diagnosis with further supportive and practical advice. Volunteers look after younger children in the Activity Room whilst Mums and Dads can explore their questions and anxieties with staff in our lounge over a cup of coffee.

Staff from SNIP give specialised advice regarding welfare benefits and financial and practical help which can be accessed following diagnosis of a long term condition. Their long experience of the difficulties which families of children with Special Needs face makes them ideally placed to play this important part in the Drop In Centre alongside their other roles at the hospital.

Access to SNIP services, including advice on:

  • Benefits that you may be entitled to.
  • Education issues and support groups.
  • Getting a break from caring.
